2022 World Footbag Championships – Net Videos
As I don’t travel to footbag tournaments to play anymore, I didn’t go to Krakow to film either. You’ll find the information thatI could gather for this event that seemed really fun.
Here’s a quick recap
41th IFPA WORLD FOOTBAG CHAMPIONSHIPS
July 27-31, 2022
Krakow, Poland
Women singles net finals
Competitors:
Maude Landreville from Montréal, Québec, Canada – Club Aki Québec vs Lena Mlakar from Kranj, Slovenia – Club Footbag Kranj
Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring
As you can see from the scores, this match was a true battle. Featuring two former World Champions, the title had to be earned in sweat.
Landreville wins: 15-9, 9-15, 16-14, 14-16, 15-9
Open singles net finals
Competitors:
Walt Houston, Memphis, USA – Club Memphis Footworks vs
Tuomas Kärki, Helsinki, Finland – Club Footbag Finland.
Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring
Walt and Tuomas had already met quite a few times and this match was highly awaited. Unfortunately, Tuomas had to retire after winning the first set, due to injury.
Houston wins 13-15, 12-10 Forfait
Women doubles net finals
Competitors:
Maude Landreville from Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec + Lena Mlakar from Kranj, Slovenia – Club Footbag Kranj vs Kerstin Anhuth, Frankfurt, Ger, Club Footbag Frankfurt E.V. + Audrey Tumelin from Paris, France – Club RNH
Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring
This was a slow year in terms of female competitors at Worlds. Only 3 teams were competing in the Women’s doubles. I couldn’t find any video of that match so I’ll guess that, according to the scores, it was a fairly easy win for Maude and Lena.
Landreville and Mlakar win 15-13, 15-6, 15-10
Mixed doubles net finals
Competitors:
Florian Goetze + Kerstin Adineh from Frankfurt Germany – Club Frankfurt Footbag vs Luc Legault from Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec + Lena Mlakar from Kranj, Slovenia – Club Footbag Kranj
Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring
My teammate, Luc Legault from Aki Québec, manages to make it to the finals pretty often in the mixed doubles but had yet to score a victory. This time again, he would have to wait as the many titles holders from Germany wouldn’t cooperate with his goal in what seems to have been a tight match.
Frankfurt Footbag wins it by 18-16, 13-15, 15-13, 15-8
Open doubles net finals
Competitors:
Florian Goetze from Frankfurt Germany – Club Frankfurt Footbag + Tuomas Kärki, Helsinki, Finland – Club Footbag Finland vs Walt Houston and Benjamin Alston, Memphis, USA – Club Memphis Footworks
Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring
A long a grueling match saw the Europeans manage a win in 5 sets. After winning the 2 first sets, the German-Finnish team lost the next 2 to force a fifth set battle, in which they prevailed easily.
Frankfurt + Helsinki for the win: 15-12, 15-10, 12-15, 10-15, 15-7

2022 World Footbag Championships Net Videos
Although I didn’t film any of this, here’s my curated list from the live feeds. It’s not the best footage, there’s no editing, but it still can give an idea of what was going on. I couldn’t find anything on the Women Doubles finals. Let me know if there is some video of it somewhere. The videos are from the organizers: Team Maniac from Poland.
The trailer by Pawel Rozek is nice.
