Another historical milestone was attained with the first World Footbag Championships to be held in South America.

Women singles net finals

Competitors:
Lena Mlakar from Kranj, Slovenia – Club Footbag Kranj vs Maude Landreville from Montréal, Québec, Canada – Club Aki Québec

Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring

A repeat from the 2022 finals in Krakow. This time the tide was reversed, with Lena winning the title in another 5 setter.

Lena wins:  15-7 15-8 10-15 7-15 15-12

Open singles net finals

Competitors:
Walt Houston, Memphis, USA – Club Memphis Footworks vs
Luis Lovera Calanche, Caracas, Venezuela – Club Footbag Venezuela

Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring

This was the first time that a player from Venezuela made it to the finals in any event at Worlds. So, Luis Lovera Calanche had the difficult task to face the title holder, Walt Houston, one of the greats of the discipline. Luis managed to make it harder for Walt in the third game, improving from games 1 and 2, but Walt prevailed with his usual aggressive style.

Houston wins: 15-9 15-4 16-14

Women doubles net finals

Competitors:
Maude Landreville from Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec + Marilyn Demuy Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec vs Wladiuska Pacheco Castro, Venezuela, Club Footbag Venezuela + Lena Mlakar from Kranj, Slovenia – Club Footbag Kranj

Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring

Wladiuska, short Wlady, set a historical first by being the first woman from Venezuela to make it to the finals at Worlds. She teamed up with seasoned veteran Lena Mlakar from Slovenia. They faced a fierce team of Quebecers but managed to win a set. In the end, the Aki Québec team was too strong and experienced for the improvised team of Venezuela and Slovenia.

Aki Québec (Landreville + Demuy) wins 15-9 15-7 14-16 15-8

Mixed doubles net finals

Competitors:
Maude Landreville + Luka Weyler-Lavallée from Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec vs Yves Kreil from Berlin, Germany – Club FC Footstar + Marilyn Demuy Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec

Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring

Due to Yves Kreil’s injury there was no match.

Although I didn’t film any of this, here’s my curated list from the live feeds. It’s not the best footage, there’s no editing, but it still can give an idea of what was going on.
*In the doubles 3rd place and the women singles, when you reach the end of one game, go to the next item in the list to skip the time between games as they are in the same long clip.
**So far, there’s no clip for the Mixed doubles 3rd place match that I could retrieve although the second part of the Open doubles 3rd place match was mislabeled as mixed doubles.
