2014 World Footbag Championships – Recap – Results – Freestyle Finals Video Collection
World Footbag Championships for the first time in France
The RNH footbag club located in Paris took charge when the 35th World Footbag Championships were in danger of not happening.
The tournament was announced late and the crew had to rush to make it happen. Some huge problems arose when the ceiling of the gym planned for the tourney crumbled. The club found another solution, allowing the competitors from around the World to gather in the city of lights from July 27th to August 2nd 2014, for a week of extra hard competition, .
Here’s a recap of how it went down for the freestyle competitors.
Women Singles Routines finals
Four competitors made it to the routines’ finals in 2014: Caroline Birch, Jana Sassakova (now Riisalo) Paloma Mayo and the winner Tina Aeberli. Tina ruled as per her usual standards, but the other women did fine too, especially Paloma Mayo from Spain, who came a long way into being one of the best. Women’s circle and Shred 30 were also on display.
Open Singles Routines finals
The champion Jindra Smola smothered the competition in Paris. Jindra’s very energitic routine had lots of difficulty and nice choreography and he didn’t drop the footbag once in his two minutes performance. Evan Gatesman from the US, and the king of footbag freestyle Vasek Klouda also deserved a place on the podium. All the players had great moments in their routines.
Open Teams Routines finals
The best freestyle teams at the 2014 World Footbag Championships went directly to the finals. Tomas Tucek and Martin Sládek won the competition easily. Obviously, the team freestyle specialists from Czech Republic had put a lot of work in their routine, it’s a beauty to watch. A Spain team followed, unfortunately their routine was not filmed in full due to technical problems, but you get a glimpse of Sergio’ s and Paloma’s energy in the excerpt. Also competing in the finals, were Jindra Smola and Patrik Cerny, as well as Caroline Birch, and partner Jana Sassakova.
