2025 World Footbag Championships – Net Videos
Another historical milestone was attained with the first World Footbag Championships to be held in Nantes, France.
The first time in Nantes, the second in France after Paris, 2014.

Women singles net finals
Competitors:
Marilyn Demuy from Montréal, Québec, Canada – Club Aki Québec vs Lena Mlakar from Kranj, Slovenia – Club Footbag Kranj
Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring
A repeat from the 2018 finals in Sofia. Marilyn won again in a tough 5 setter.
Demuy wins: 15-8 15-6 11-15 12-15 15-8
Open singles net finals
Competitors:

Format Best of 5 games to 15 points, rally scoring
33 years after his last singles title, Footbag legend Kenny Shults garnered another win in the finals. He had already met his opponent the previous year in Montreal, in the semi finals, with the same result. This time, Kenny regrouped after losing the first set and barely winning the 3rd to finish on top.
Shults wins: 10-15 15-6 16-14 15-9
Women doubles net finals
Competitors:
Maude Landreville from Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec + Marilyn Demuy Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec vs Becca English-Ross + Sarah Femmel from USA Northwest
Format Best of 3 games to 15 points, side out scoring
Maude and Marilyn pretty much dominate the women’s doubles scene and they proved it yet again in that finals. The USA team provided a good opposition with good serves and grit. Maude and Marilyn seemed nervous at times during that match, another testimony of their opponent’s value.
Aki Québec (Landreville + Demuy) wins 15-11 16-14
Mixed doubles net finals
Competitors:
Lena Mlakar from Kranj, Slovenia – Club Footbag Kranj + Walt Houston (USA) club Memphis Footworks vs Yves Kreil from Berlin, Germany – Club FC Footstar + Marilyn Demuy Montreal, Canada – Club Aki Québec
Format Best of 3 games to 15 points, side out scoring
Last year’s title holders Demuy and Kreil had a tough battle ahead in 2025. A new team formed by multiple gold medalists Walt Houston and Lena Mlakar was standing in their way. It was a crucial moment as Marilyn was looking at a second triple crown in a row, after winning women’s singles and doubles. There would be no luck this time for her and her partner as Walt’s devastating serve and Lena’s overall solid play would prove to be unsurmontable.

Open doubles net finals
Competitors:
Luis Lovera Calanche and Jhon Orace Valera, Caracas, Venezuela – Club Footbag Venezuela vs Yves Kreil from Berlin, Germany – Club FC Footstar + Wiktor Debski, Warsaw, Poland – Club Footbag Poland
Format Best of 3 games to 15 points, side out scoring
This was the biggest surprise of the tournament. The team from Venezuela took care of multiple World Champions Walt Houston and Ben Alston in the semis and defeated seasoned veterans Yves Kreil (2 times doubles World Champion) and Wiktor Debski in the finals. After a 3rd place in 2o23’s Worlds in Colombia, Luis and Jhon came back with a vengeance. They trained hard and were very serious about their commitment on the courts all during the contest. Well done Venezuela, finally a title for your country, it’s a remarkable achievement. Thanks to all that participated to the Go Fund Me to bring these great players to Nantes.
