1999 Montreal International Championship

This one was quite an adventure. After three years of collaboration with La Ronde, Montreal’s well known attraction park, a new administration kicked us out. Surprisingly, after the big successes that we had with the 1996 and 1998 World Championships, + the 1997 Montreal International, the new ladies in charge didn’t recognize that it could be of any interest for the users of the park. Even though I came well prepared with the impressive videos and the press review, they didn’t budge. Then, we negociated a venue change and moved the event to the municipal beach, that was under the same administration.
As a competitor, it was my second tournament, coming back from a knee reconstruction surgery and I’m proud to see my second spots in Open singles and doubles in these ancient results.

Media Coverage

We were lucky enough to get good media coverage by two local stations as I didn’t have the resources to film any of it, so here’s a mashup of the 2 shows, with an added personal touch. It’s in french with the english subtitles that I created, not AI.

This video montage reminds us of the good times of the 1999 Montreal International Footbag Championship. The sequences are taken from TV reports from the shows 110% on TQS, and SPAM, which was broadcast on Musique Plus.
